This story demonstrates the Mexican culture’s realization towards the difference between the rewards of good and evil. While the cruel brother doesn’t have to do anything to get through life he lives miserably and without friends. However, the good brother gets wealth, his hunch removed, and praise from the people he saved. This culture obviously recognizes rudeness, jealously, laziness, and selfishness and evil things undeserving of rewards towards the person that uses them. Meanwhile, the expressions of kindness, honesty, hard work, and selflessness are things deserving of rewards of people who practice them. If someone were to live in this culture they would be better off to know that good things come out of good people and nothing but regret comes from evil things.
